A collection of thirty-one poems that share daily vignettes while living in the Pacific Northwest during an unprecedented time.
Days in August chronicles the wonders of being immersed in nature, the beauty of discovering a new love, and how our perspectives shift as we grow older. Poet Ethan Fig takes us along epic trails in the forests of Washington and past red rocks in the deserts of Utah. His poetry is philosophical, contemplative, and profound. By writing one poem per day during 2020’s eighth month, Fig is able to capture the emotion of a world undergoing a dramatic change, as he too comes to know new sides of himself through poetic verse. Written by a proud gay man as he uncovers revelations in the wilderness, Days in August is a stunning collection that will stay with you throughout the year.
